For this \u201cChapter of Forecasts,\u201d 74 noted Americans from a variety of fields wrote essays presenting their view of how American society would evolve in the next 100 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The wide-ranging predictions of life in 1993 helped draw hundreds of thousands of readers to the 1893 Chicago World\u2019s Fair.
